Virtual Doodlebugs via Zoom: Lilies of the Alley
Lilies of the Alley
Celebrate Earth Day the Grant Wood way—by upcycling found objects into art! Grant used whatever little items he found in the alley behind his home to create his “Lilies of the Alley” sculptures, so see what you can find around the house that might make an interesting “flower” for your own masterpiece.
Supplies: This month’s project is a good excuse to repurpose all the little pieces of “junk” around the house! To do the art project along with Miss Erin, you can use materials like these: Colorful paper or paper you can color on, scissors, tape and/or glue, pipe cleaners are handy but not necessary, and any little bits you can find around the house—buttons, scraps of ribbon or fabric, beads, nuts & bolts, small plastic or metal bottlecaps, disposable straws, popsicle sticks, cupcake wrappers, puzzle pieces or game board pieces you don’t need, etc. You can even use pieces of old art projects you don’t want to keep! Just be sure you have permission to use whatever materials you want to use.
