Grant Wood in Focus

Join Executive Director Sean Ulmer as he takes a closer look at Grant Wood’s painting The First Three Degrees of Freemasonry (1921), on view at the Grand Lodge of Iowa’s Masonic Library and Museums, Cedar Rapids.  This work, often overlooked by scholars, shows a different side of Wood’s work, one which relates to other works he produced around this time.  The painting will not only be looked at in detail, including some sources for his imagery, but will also be discussed in context with other works that Wood produced.
